Lashes on Lashes! Seriously though… there are so many things to do with these tiny little hairs. Glue on lashes, extensions, serums, mascara, and the list goes on and on. Though I have been tempted, I have yet to try lash extensions. I have also been hearing about lash lifts for years now, first hearing about them while living down in LA. I use a lash serum from Grande Cosmetics and I love it because it really does work. Even though my lashes are long, they are straight and light brown at the tip, which is weird and makes them look shorter.
For me, it is all about not getting lash extensions, but still waking up with perfect lashes that don’t need any mascara or curling. Since I always chicken out with lash extensions because of the horror stories, price, maintenance, and since I don’t know how to properly glue on false lashes, I had finally convinced myself to try the Keratin Lash Lift by Yumilash.
The Process
I found a technician in the East Bay because I was working out there at the time. The appointment was 1.5 hours. The reason for the long appointment is because each lash needs to be fanned out and separated or they permanently get set in a messy manner.
There are 4 steps :
- The Lift
- The Fix
- The Tint (optional)
- Nourish and cleanse the lashes
The lifting effect lasts about 8-12 weeks depending on your shedding cycle, and the tint lasts 2-3 weeks due to repeated washing of your face.
Nothing hurt or felt uncomfortable. It did feel a little weird but hey, how often do you sit still with your eyelashes forced upwards but not able to open your eyes? The results were immediate and you are not supposed to wet your eyelashes for 48 hours. This wasn’t hard, especially since I was leaving for a flight to Australia the next day that was long AF.
The Takeaway
Would I do it again? Yes!
I felt like my lashes curled even more over the 8-12 weeks and I actually felt like they eventually became too curly! However, every makeup artist that I worked with thought they were incredible.
For me, once the tinting wore off, I felt like I just had curled lashes. That took away the ‘waking up with perfect lashes’ effect that I was going for. If having my lashes re-tinted was a part of the service or if I had naturally black lashes, I would definitely do it more often. It all depends on your lashes, the look you’re going for and your personal preference! At the end of the day, I say to 100% giving it a try! After all, beauty is in the eyelash(es) of the beholder 😉
Tips
Don’t be alarmed if you rub your eyes and a few lashes come out. I was alarmed at first, but this happened a few times and my lash line was fine! My lift lasted about 10 weeks and my lashes went back to normal with no bald spots.
My Lashes were lifted by Chao at Ciao Bella Beauty Bar in Dublin, CA. You can book your appointment online and Chao is so much fun to talk to! Leave me a comment if you know of any places closer to Sacramento!
